Product Designer, Defense & Autonomy Systems
Overview
Own the end-to-end design process for autonomy and defense software platforms at Applied Intuition, a $15B company trusted by the U.S. military and 18 of the top 20 global automakers. You will shape user experiences for tools that enable development, testing, and deployment of advanced autonomous systems, working at the intersection of autonomy, hardware, and software. Collaborating with engineers, product managers, and defense experts, you will translate complex operational requirements into intuitive interfaces and advocate for user research. What You'll Do7
- 1Lead the end-to-end design process from concept to launch, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design for autonomy and defense platforms.
- 2Translate complex operational requirements and technical constraints into elegant, user-centric design solutions for real-time systems.
- 3Develop high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes in Figma to communicate design ideas and gather feedback.
- 4Conduct user research with commercial and defense personnel to understand workflows, pain points, and needs in mission-critical environments.
- 5Iterate with cross-functional teams including product management and engineering to refine designs for autonomy software.
- 6Contribute to and maintain a consistent design system ensuring usability and scalability across multiple products.
- 7Advocate for the user throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring products are intuitive, efficient, and reliable under demanding conditions.
Requirements8
- 14+ years of professional experience as a Product Designer or UX Designer focused on complex software applications.
- 2Experience with automotive products, video game UX, or similar interactive real-time simulation interfaces.
- 3A strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design principles, interaction design, and visual design across form factors.
- 4Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
- 5Excellent communication and presentation skills, articulating design decisions to diverse audiences.
- 6Demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative, technically demanding environment.
- 7Experience establishing, running, and collating user research.
- 8Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
