Overview
This role owns a caseload of low to medium risk offenders on private probation, electronic monitoring, and drug testing in the Tooele area. You will conduct court-ordered investigations, build supervision plans, and enforce conditions while traveling to remote sites. You will install and maintain ankle monitors, collaborating with courts and families to support rehabilitation and public safety. What You'll Do8
- 1Conduct investigations on defendants, including offense, criminal record, and family data, then compile findings for court reports.
- 2Formulate sentencing recommendations based on Utah laws and sentencing guidelines.
- 3Develop supervision and treatment plans that identify individual problems and community safety requirements.
- 4Supervise offenders in remote rural areas, isolated reservations, and urban neighborhoods, maintaining regular contact.
- 5Enforce court-ordered conditions and respond to family concerns.
- 6Install, explain, and uninstall electronic monitoring equipment (ankle monitors) as assigned.
- 7Provide counseling referrals and connect offenders to social agencies and community resources.
- 8Prepare violation reports with evaluations and recommendations for the court.
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, human relations, business or public administration, or two years of specialized experience.
- 2Clean criminal history (required).
- 3Experience in probation or related fields preferred.
- 4Ability to travel to Tooele location 4-6 times per month from Murray.
- 5Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for fieldwork.
- 6Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- 7Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- 8Comfort with using technology for monitoring and reporting.
