Overview

Operate Trumpf press brakes to shape sheet metal into finished parts at a 50+ employee fabrication shop in Charlotte. You will own setup, production, and quality checks across bending, shearing, and rolling equipment. Work the 3rd shift alongside a tight-knit team reporting to the Machining & Fabrication Supervisor. This role demands precision and safety, with real input on process improvements.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Set up and run Trumpf press brakes and secondary equipment like shears, saws, and plate rolls to produce parts per blueprints.
  • 2Calculate tonnage and K-factors to verify bends for material thickness and type, adjusting setups to avoid defects.
  • 3Inspect finished pieces with calipers, gauges, and visual checks against CAD drawings and work instructions.
  • 4Troubleshoot non-conforming parts on the spot, correcting machine settings or performing minor repairs to keep quality on target.
  • 5Move raw and finished materials using overhead cranes, pallet jacks, and forklifts, scanning barcodes to track workflow.
  • 6Collaborate with machine operators and supervisors to flag production issues that could delay delivery or compromise quality.
  • 7Perform routine maintenance on Trumpf brakes, including lubrication and die changes, to minimize downtime.
  • 8Document setup parameters and production output in the ERP system to support continuous improvement goals.
  • 9Follow all safety protocols and keep your workstation organized, modeling best practices for the night crew.

Requirements8

  • 13+ years operating Trumpf press brakes in a sheet metal fabrication environment.
  • 2Proven ability to read GD&T blueprints and manufacturing drawings with precision.
  • 3Hands-on experience calculating tonnage and K-factors for mild steel, stainless, and aluminum.
  • 4Skill in using calipers, micrometers, and protractors to verify part dimensions.
  • 5Comfort with overhead cranes and manual lifting of 50+ pounds repeatedly.
  • 6Strong mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting machine issues and performing minor repairs.
  • 7Ability to stand and walk for 8+ hours on a rotating 3rd shift schedule.
  • 8High attention to detail and a track record of meeting daily production quotas.
