Prep Cook/Baker, French Bakery & Café
Overview
You will own daily pastry and menu item preparation at maman, a French bakery and café with locations across North America. You will work with the BOH team to produce doughs, batters, fillings, and garnishes, ensuring every item meets the brand's quality and presentation standards. In this role, you will support high-volume production, maintain food safety and sanitation, and collaborate across teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience. What You'll Do9
- 1Prepare pastries and menu items according to maman recipes, including doughs, batters, fillings, and garnishes.
- 2Execute daily prep tasks such as chopping, measuring, mixing, and assembling ingredients with accuracy and efficiency.
- 3Use strong knife skills and proper techniques to ensure consistency and safety in all food preparation.
- 4Support baking and production needs to ensure every item meets visual and quality expectations.
- 5Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation, following all food safety and sanitation standards.
- 6Properly label, date, and store food items to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
- 7Receive, organize, and store deliveries as needed, and communicate any quality issues to the Kitchen Leader.
- 8Collaborate positively with the BOH team and support front-of-house operations when needed to ensure smooth service.
- 9Perform additional tasks and ad hoc projects as assigned to support daily operations.
Requirements9
- 11+ years of prep cook or back-of-house kitchen experience in a café, bakery, or similar environment.
- 2Familiarity with pastry preparation and basic baking techniques.
- 3Strong knife skills and working knowledge of basic kitchen techniques.
- 4Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and operational procedures.
- 5Strong time management, multitasking, and adaptability skills.
- 6Passion for hospitality, teamwork, and delivering a high-quality product.
- 7Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- 8Flexible availability including early mornings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
- 9Preferred: Food Handler's Certification or ServSafe Certification.
