Pipe Fitter - HVAC Mechanical Projects
Overview
You will own the fitting and installation of carbon steel pipe up to 24" on HVAC and mechanical projects across Charlotte. You'll join a team of 30+ fitters and welders, working under a superintendent to deliver commercial and industrial builds. Your work directly impacts system safety and reliability, and you'll have the autonomy to correct unsafe conditions on site.
What You'll Do6
- 1Assemble carbon steel pipe systems up to 24", measuring, cutting, and threading per specs.
- 2Solder, braze, and groove pipe, install hangers, and set supports for mechanical systems.
- 3Repair malfunctions, breakages, and leaks in pipe systems, testing for safety and function.
- 4Interpret blueprints to lay out and install piping routes, ensuring alignment and slope.
- 5Collaborate with fitters and welders to complete projects on schedule, reporting progress to the foreman.
- 6Enforce safety policies, correcting unsafe conditions and wearing required PPE on site.
Requirements8
- 12-3 years fitting pipe in commercial or industrial settings.
- 2Own hand tools required for pipe fitting, including levels, tape measures, and pipe wrenches.
- 3Read and interpret blueprints and isometric drawings.
- 4Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the trade, such as threaders and groovers.
- 5Knowledge of cutting and welding methods, including oxy-fuel and arc.
- 6Pass a background check and drug test.
- 7Lift up to 50 lbs frequently, and 115 lbs occasionally.
- 8Climb ladders and work at heights, balancing on beams and scaffolding.
