Physicist, Radiation Therapy & Medical Physics
Overview
As a Physicist at Mass General Brigham, you will own the calibration and quality assurance of radiation therapy equipment across our Boston campus. You will collaborate with a team of Medical Physicists, Radiation Oncologists, and Dosimetrists to ensure precise dose delivery and patient safety. With 5+ years of clinical experience, you will spearhead the adoption of IMRT, IGRT, and SRS techniques. This role offers direct impact on patient outcomes and access to cutting-edge research at one of the nation's top academic medical centers.
What You'll Do8
- 1Calibrate linear accelerators and verify dose output using TG-51 protocols and ionization chambers.
- 2Design and implement IMRT and VMAT treatment plans using Eclipse or Pinnacle TPS.
- 3Lead monthly quality assurance on CT simulators and MRI units to ensure imaging accuracy.
- 4Perform brachytherapy source calibrations and maintain HDR afterloader safety checks.
- 5Develop in-house software for automated QA analysis in Python and MATLAB.
- 6Drive the commissioning of a new halcyon linac, ensuring TG-142 compliance.
- 7Mentor junior physicists and residents in TG-100 risk-based QA methodologies.
- 8Troubleshoot equipment failures during patient treatment, reducing downtime.
Requirements8
- 15+ years of clinical experience in radiation therapy physics.
- 2Board certification in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics from the American Board of Radiology.
- 3PhD in Medical Physics, Physics, or related field.
- 4Proficiency with Eclipse TPS and Aria oncology information system.
- 5Experience with halcyon or truebeam linear accelerators preferred.
- 6Strong skills in Python, MATLAB, and Excel for data analysis.
- 7Knowledge of TG-51, TG-142, and TG-40 protocols.
- 8Eligibility for medical physics licensure in Massachusetts.
