Overview

You will own critical care resuscitation for adult non-trauma patients transferred to the Critical Care Resuscitation Unit (CCRU) at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Join a 24/7 team of critical care attendings, advanced practice providers, and critical care nurses. You will deliver immediate resuscitation for time-sensitive emergencies, collaborating with referring facilities and pre-hospital transport. This role offers direct experience in a novel, high-acuity unit within a nationally recognized academic trauma center.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Deliver immediate resuscitation to critically ill adults transferred from outside hospitals within the Critical Care Resuscitation Unit.
  • 2Collaborate with referring facilities and pre-hospital transport providers to facilitate prompt transfer of patients requiring specialty care.
  • 3Perform comprehensive assessments, diagnose, and manage acute conditions in a 24/7 critical care setting.
  • 4Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and implement evidence-based treatment protocols.
  • 5Communicate effectively with patients' families, medical staff, and nursing teams on all essential matters.
  • 6Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • 7Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to research or teaching within the Shock Trauma environment.

Requirements9

  • 1Master of Science with completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • 2Registered with the Maryland Board of Physicians and certified as a Physician Assistant in the State of Maryland (or eligible).
  • 3Certified in area of specialty, with DEA and CDS eligibility required.
  • 4Current CPR and ACLS/BCLS certification as required for inpatient work.
  • 5Minimum of 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.
  • 6Demonstrated ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, or certification.
  • 7Ability to provide care appropriate to the patient population and assess data across the life span.
  • 8Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, families, and medical staff.
  • 9Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented critical care environment.
