What You'll Do8

  • 1Order and interpret ECGs, echocardiograms, and cardiac biomarkers to guide acute and chronic cardiac care.
  • 2Perform bedside procedures including thoracentesis, central line placement, and arterial blood gas sampling in critical care settings.
  • 3Execute fluoroscopy-guided procedures such as pericardiocentesis and temporary pacemaker placement under supervision.
  • 4Coordinate discharge planning with patients, families, and community resources to reduce readmissions for heart failure patients.
  • 5Lead daily inpatient rounds, documenting progress notes in Epic and adjusting treatment plans for hemodynamically unstable patients.
  • 6Triage after-hours patient calls and manage urgent issues like chest pain or palpitations via telehealth or in-person visits.
  • 7Initiate emergency protocols for code STEMI and code stroke in the cardiac unit, stabilizing patients until the attending arrives.
  • 8Precept new PA graduates and medical students during cardiac rotations, providing real-time feedback on clinical reasoning.

Requirements8

  • 1Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
  • 2Current Pennsylvania PA License and PA-C certification (or board eligible).
  • 31 year experience in a specialty or procedure-based setting, preferably cardiology.
  • 4CPR and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
  • 5Drug Enforcement Agency licensure within 90 days of hire.
  • 6Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 clearances for child abuse, criminal background, and FBI fingerprinting.
  • 7Experience with electronic prescribing and EHR systems like Epic.
  • 8Ability to work rotational shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 coverage model.
