As a Physical Therapist Assistant faculty member, you will teach and mentor students in Austin Community College's associate degree program, preparing them for the national licensing exam. What You'll Do8
- 1Teach Physical Therapist Assistant courses using diverse instructional strategies that meet department learning outcomes and community college student needs.
- 2Develop and update course content in the Blackboard learning management system, including syllabi, assignments, and grading.
- 3Evaluate student progress through clear, timely feedback aligned with program learning outcomes.
- 4Mentor students in the PTA program, guiding them toward successful completion and licensure.
- 5Engage in departmental governance, including curriculum review, program assessment, and student learning outcome evaluation.
- 6Maintain current expertise in neurological diseases and conditions for patients of all ages through professional development.
- 7Travel to clinical sites and community partners as needed to support student learning.
- 8Serve on collegewide and departmental committees, contributing to institutional planning and decision-making.
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or Physical Therapist Assistant with current unencumbered licensure, OR Associate degree in PTA with licensure and 3+ years non-teaching work experience.
- 23+ years full-time post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy practice.
- 3Contemporary expertise in neurological diseases and conditions for patients of all ages.
- 4Proficiency with computer applications, online resources, and educational technology, including Blackboard.
- 5Experience with active and applied teaching methodologies for diverse student populations.
- 6Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to engage students from varied backgrounds.
- 7Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of student information and adhering to college policies.
- 8Ability to work evenings and weekends, with possible multiple campus locations.
Salary Insight
$74 - $110k per year
