Overview
You will own patient specimen collection and front-line service at Labcorp's Patient Service Center or client office, handling 50+ blood draws per shift. You will perform venipuncture and capillary collections for all age groups, manage data entry, and prepare specimens for testing. The role demands precision with EPIC and Cerner systems, and you will coordinate with lab teams to ensure sample integrity. This position offers a quarterly bonus through the PST Incentive Plan and a clear path to senior phlebotomy roles.
What You'll Do8
- 1Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections for patients of all ages, hitting first-stick accuracy targets within 90 days.
- 2Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, and alcohol tests, following chain-of-custody protocols.
- 3Enter patient data into EPIC and Cerner systems with 99% accuracy, completing all records before end of shift.
- 4Process billing information and collect payments using Meditech, ensuring zero discrepancies in daily reports.
- 5Prepare specimens for testing and analysis, labeling and centrifuging as required by CAP and CLIA standards.
- 6Maintain patient and specimen logs in Excel and SharePoint, updating records in real time.
- 7Deliver customer service that reduces repeat draws and patient complaints, handling anxious or pediatric patients with empathy.
- 8Handle administrative duties like scheduling, phone calls, and inventory restocking to keep the center running smoothly.
Requirements8
- 1High school diploma or GED.
- 2Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency or completed training program, or 3+ months experience as a phlebotomist.
- 36+ months experience preferred as a phlebotomist.
- 4Proficiency in MS Office and data entry, with ability to type 40+ WPM.
- 5Ability to pass a color blindness test.
- 6Strong verbal and written communication skills for patient interactions.
- 7Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, plus flexibility for overtime and Saturday shifts.
- 8Reliable transportation to travel between Patient Service Centers as needed.
