Pharmacy Technician, Customer Support - Hybrid, Cary NC
Overview
You will own inbound pharmacy calls for a national specialty pharmacy, scheduling refill deliveries and routing non-clinical inquiries to keep workflow moving. You will work alongside clinical teams and customer service peers, using management information systems to track prescriptions and patient needs. This hybrid role starts with full-time office training then shifts to 2 days in office and 3 remote. You will make a direct impact on patient satisfaction and medication access from day one.
What You'll Do8
- 1Answer inbound pharmacy calls as the first point of contact, resolving non-clinical issues to prevent workflow interruptions
- 2Schedule medication deliveries and payment arrangements, entering accurate data for timely package distribution
- 3Route calls to clinical staff when patients need medical guidance, ensuring prompt and correct handling
- 4Update progress notes in the management information system so the team can quickly assess each referral
- 5Handle refill requests, prescription status checks, insurance verification, and invoice questions through the system
- 6Address patient questions during refill scheduling and transfer complex issues to the clinical team
- 7Report adverse events and product complaints to clinicians to protect patient safety
- 8Support additional tasks as assigned to meet team and program needs
Requirements8
- 1Registered Pharmacy Technician in North Carolina (required)
- 21+ years of customer service experience in a call center or pharmacy setting
- 3Proficiency with management information systems and Microsoft Office
- 4Excellent verbal and written communication with a professional phone manner
- 5Empathy and patience when speaking with patients
- 6Strong attention to detail for accurate data entry and records
- 7Experience with prior authorization, retail pharmacy, or medical terminology is a plus
- 8Knowledge of medical claims and insurance data is beneficial
