Pet Care Technician, Dog Walking & Pet Sitting
Overview
You will own midday dog walking and pet sitting visits across Del Ray, Old Town Alexandria, and South Arlington. You'll manage a daily route of client homes, providing exercise, meals, and medication to dogs, cats, and small animals. You'll report to the operations team and coordinate with other technicians on coverage. This part-time role offers $24–$28/hour plus tips, with a flexible schedule that fits around your life. You'll build trust with repeat clients and their pets, making a tangible difference in their daily routine.
What You'll Do7
- 1Execute scheduled dog walking and pet sitting visits for assigned clients, following each pet's care plan
- 2Provide fresh food and water, administer medications as directed, and confirm dietary needs
- 3Monitor pet health and behavior, noting any changes and reporting them to the client and team
- 4Maintain cleanliness in client homes, including wiping paws, cleaning up messes, and securing exits
- 5Follow detailed pet care instructions, including leash protocols, feeding schedules, and emergency contacts
- 6Communicate daily updates through the team app, sending photos and notes after each visit
- 7Adapt to client-specific requests, such as watering plants, bringing in mail, or adjusting visit times
Requirements7
- 1Availability for mornings, evenings, and weekends; midday availability is a plus
- 2Reliable vehicle and smartphone for routing and time tracking
- 3Strong reliability and time management, with a track record of on-time arrivals
- 4Comfortable with dogs, cats, and small animals, including handling leash-reactive pets
- 5Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, rain, and cold
- 6Must pass a background check and provide references
- 7Previous pet care experience preferred but not required
