Pediatric Urgent Care APP Job in Washington, DC | PM Pediatric Care
Overview
You will own clinical care for pediatric patients in a high-acuity urgent care setting, managing 20-30 visits per shift across in-person and telemedicine. You will use evidence-based guidelines and perform procedures like laceration repair and abscess drainage. Join a team of Pediatric Emergency Physicians and APPs at the largest pediatric urgent care network in the U.S., with on-site X-ray and lab support. This role offers flexible scheduling (12-36 hours/week), no overnight shifts, and comprehensive training in pediatrics and procedures.
What You'll Do8
- 1Evaluate and treat acute injuries and illnesses for pediatric patients in-person and via telemedicine, including asthma, croup, and anaphylaxis.
- 2Perform urgent care procedures such as abscess drainage, foreign body removal, and laceration repair with sutures, staples, and adhesive.
- 3Obtain and interpret radiographs with radiologist over-reads, supported by training.
- 4Oversee daily patient flow and operations, guiding staff and trainees on shift.
- 5Collaborate with on-site and telemedicine teams to review labs and radiology results, and follow up with patients.
- 6Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- 7Contribute to service recovery and patient experience metrics, focusing on antibiotic stewardship.
- 8Update clinical skills through internal training, CME, and professional development.
Requirements8
- 12+ years of independent pediatric clinical experience as an APP, or 1+ years in urgent care or emergency medicine.
- 2Active ANCC or NCCPA board certification.
- 3Active RN (if applicable) and NP or PA state license for each state where treating patients.
- 4Master of Science in Nursing, Doctoral degree in Nursing, or Master of Physician Assistant Studies.
- 5Pediatric experience required; Pediatric ER, General Pediatrics, or Urgent Care experience preferred.
- 6Ability to think critically and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- 7Excellent computer skills with EMR experience (eCW preferred).
- 8Effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
