Overview

You will own psychosocial assessment and brief targeted intervention for children and families at Vanderbilt Children's University Pediatrics at One Hundred Oaks, a primary care clinic seeing 100+ patients daily. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary medical team to integrate behavioral health into pediatric care, driving better outcomes for chronic and acute conditions. This role offers the chance to shape integrated care models within a leading academic medical center, with support for professional growth and evidence-based practice. You will work onsite in Nashville, Tennessee, with 8am-5pm hours, focusing on early intervention and family-centered care.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Complete psychosocial assessments for pediatric patients and families, identifying social, emotional, and environmental barriers to care.
  • 2Deliver brief, targeted interventions for issues like anxiety, depression, and behavioral concerns, using CBT and solution-focused therapy.
  • 3Collaborate with pediatricians and care teams to develop integrated care plans, embedding behavioral health into routine medical visits.
  • 4Provide education and consultation to families and staff on child development, parenting strategies, and mental health resources.
  • 5Maintain clinical documentation that meets VUMC compliance standards, ensuring timely and accurate records.
  • 6Lead department committees and workgroups focused on improving pediatric behavioral health services and patient flow.
  • 7Conduct crisis intervention and risk management within the clinic, triaging urgent mental health needs and coordinating referrals.
  • 8Track patient outcomes and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the impact of integrated care.

Requirements8

  • 11+ year of experience providing psychosocial assessments and interventions to children in a medical or mental health setting.
  • 2Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field from an accredited program.
  • 3Experience with children required; experience in a medical setting preferred, such as primary care, pediatrics, or hospital.
  • 4Demonstrated skill in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and developing safety plans for pediatric patients.
  • 5Ability to work collaboratively with medical teams and communicate effectively with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • 6Knowledge of child development and evidence-based therapies for pediatric populations, including CBT, DBT, and play therapy.
  • 7Strong documentation skills and familiarity with EHR systems like Epic (preferred).
  • 8Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Tennessee as an LMSW, LPC, LMFT, or Psychologist (preferred).
