The Patient Financial Services Representative I leads patient interactions to collect financial information and ensure accurate insurance verification. This role operates Monday through Friday mornings and Saturdays. Responsibilities include obtaining pre-certification and scheduling appointments while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
What You'll Do11
- 1Obtains pre-certification and authorization
- 2May schedule walk-in appointments for services offered
- 3Performs patient discharge functions including AVS review and referral coordination
- 4Verifies insurance benefits and determines filing order for multiple coverages
- 5Collects patient out-of-pocket responsibility per collection guidelines
- 6Prepares and balances daily deposits of payment collections
- 7Explains policies including regulatory and financial consent forms
- 8Interviews patients and guarantors to gather identification and prescription details
- 9Confirms physician and prescription orders for accuracy
- 10Provides exceptional customer service addressing questions promptly
- 11Guides patients to appropriate destinations for services
Requirements5
- 1High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- 2One (1) year of related hospital medical office or customer service experience preferred
- 3Ability to work in stressful environments with minimal supervision
- 4Strong communication and problem-solving skills
