Overview
As a Patient Care Assistant on our Neuro Stroke Specialty Unit at Banner Baywood Medical Center, you will own direct patient care, data collection, and unit support for a 342-bed hospital serving Phoenix's East Valley. You will work with CNA or LNA certification, collaborating with a team that serves diverse patients, including stroke and neurological cases. This role stands out with a $3,000 sign-on bonus, a day shift (7:00am–7:30pm) over three 12-hour shifts, and self-scheduling plus differentials.
What You'll Do8
- 1Assist patients with daily living activities, including hygiene, mobility, and nutrition, within the Neuro Stroke Specialty Unit.
- 2Collect patient specimens, vital signs, and I/O data, documenting in the electronic medical record.
- 3Recognize and report changes in patient status to licensed professionals, ensuring continuity of care.
- 4Perform procedures like blood draws, foley catheter removals, and EKG monitoring as delegated, per scope of practice.
- 5Manage clerical duties, patient records, and communication flow to support unit efficiency.
- 6Maintain patient records with admission, transfer, and discharge info, and process physician orders in the EMR.
- 7Monitor medical supplies and equipment, reconciling orders and ensuring functionality of patient ID scanners and laptops.
- 8Assist with patient transport and OR room turnover as assigned.
Requirements8
- 1High school diploma or GED.
- 2Current BLS certification.
- 3Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice (or LNA preferred in Arizona).
- 41 year of medical clerical experience, preferably in hospital or physician office, or prior customer service experience.
- 5Knowledge of medical terminology, computer literacy, and keyboarding skills.
- 6Pass an ECG or EEG test with 85% accuracy if assigned to a unit requiring it, and complete a unit-approved interpretation course.
- 7For behavioral health roles, an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card is required at hire.
- 8Recent healthcare experience preferred.
