Overview

Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind seeks a Part-Time Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide training and coordinate medical care under RN supervision. This role involves overseeing consumer medical care and supporting staff through comprehensive training programs.

What You'll Do18

  • 1Coordinate medical care for consumers
  • 2Provide hands-on care for illnesses injuries and emergencies
  • 3Act as liaison between consumer physicians and hospital personnel
  • 4Oversee consumer medical care according to Title 22 regulations
  • 5Collaborate with RN to modify nursing plans based on client needs
  • 6Coordinate with Care Providers to manage communicable diseases
  • 7Provide ongoing training for direct care staff on procedures and medication administration
  • 8Monitor staff medication certification and compliance
  • 9Document and update client medical records regularly
  • 10Communicate with RN Nursing Supervisor QMRP and Medical Director about health issues
  • 11Coordinate with CNAs for scheduling medical appointments
  • 12Update families and conservators on client status
  • 13Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and committees
  • 14Manage medication distribution across programs
  • 15Assess improvements and suggest operational changes
  • 16Maintain required medical forms and paperwork
  • 17Complete duties using computer systems
  • 18Contribute to TLC safety program initiatives

Requirements8

  • 1Current LVN license issued by California state authorities
  • 2One year experience serving developmentally disabled individuals or working in nursing facilities
  • 3Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups
  • 4Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • 5Valid CA driver's license with acceptable insurance rating
  • 6Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • 7Previous experience training staff preferred
  • 8Commitment to patient-centered care in therapeutic environments
