Paraprofessional, SPED at e3 Civic High, San Diego CA
Overview
Paraprofessional will support SPED students and assist in providing Specialized Academic Instruction at e3 Civic High for the 2026-27 school year. The role works under the Assistant Principal alongside Education Specialists and Learning Facilitators to deliver inclusive, engaging learning experiences. This position is onsite, part-time, and focuses on IEP implementation, student support, and collaboration with the school team. What makes this role unique is the emphasis on a whole-child approach within a urban public high school located in the San Diego Central Library.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build small-group and one-on-one tutoring sessions to reinforce instruction as directed by the Learning Facilitator and IEP case manager
- 2Lead classroom activities and monitor student progress in alignment with IEP goals
- 3Collaborate with Learning Facilitators to select programs and materials meeting student needs
- 4Maintain compliance with special education laws and ensure IEP implementation
- 5Communicate regularly with IEP case managers and the Dean of Special Education regarding IEPs
- 6Attend professional developments and support inclusive practices across the school
- 7Support and model best practices for behavior management and inclusive culture
- 8Empower classroom LFs to foster student independence and self-advocacy
- 9Promote a growth mindset and celebrate mistakes as learning opportunities
- 10Contribute to a team that serves the whole student and champions an all means all mindset
Requirements9
- 1High School Diploma and CBEST or 2 Years of College experience or Associate's Degree (Paraprofessional I)
- 2Bachelor’s Degree (Paraprofessional II)
- 3Ability to pass DOJ fingerprint clearance
- 4TB clearance prior to contract start date as mandated by the California Education Code
- 5Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- 6Experience or training related to SPED and inclusion is preferred
- 7Comfort working onsite at e3 Civic High in San Diego
- 8Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, families, and students
- 9Ability to work with diverse student populations and handle multiple tasks
