Overview
You will deliver ALS and BLS care in a pre-hospital setting for Harford County, responding to 911 calls and transporting patients under Maryland Medical Protocols. You join a 24/7 emergency team with $5000 signing bonus, built-in overtime, and a Class C driver's license requirement. Starting salary is $68,000 annually plus shift differentials. You'll operate EKGs, defibrillators, and ambulances while documenting each call before shift end.
What You'll Do9
- 1Administer ALS and BLS treatments including IV therapy, drug administration, and defibrillation under physician direction.
- 2Assess patient condition, establish priorities, and provide emergency care at the scene and en route.
- 3Operate EKGs, external defibrillators, and bag valve mask resuscitators in advanced life support environments.
- 4Drive emergency vehicles safely and coordinate with dispatchers, police, and fire personnel for patient handoff.
- 5Document patient care and observations completely before shift end, including QA messages.
- 6Immobilize patients using backboards and spinal devices for stretcher and ambulance transport.
- 7Inspect and restock equipment and supplies daily, checking expiration dates on meds and fluids.
- 8Decontaminate vehicle interiors after infectious disease cases and report per protocol.
- 9Maintain composure and manage conflict during high-stress incidents, adapting to changing priorities.
Requirements10
- 12+ years of emergency care experience.
- 2High School Diploma or GED.
- 3Maryland Licensed Paramedic (required) and National Registered Paramedic (NRP) certification.
- 4Current ALS Certification and Hazmat Operations certification.
- 5Valid Class C driver's license with no more than 3 points.
- 6Ability to lift and carry patient transport devices under all conditions.
- 7Ability to make decisions and use independent judgment in emergencies.
- 8Possess a communication device for on-call purposes.
- 9Knowledge of Maryland Medical Protocols and quality patient care principles.
- 10Proficiency in completing patient care reports in a timely manner.
