Packaging Engineer, Corrugated Box Design & Artios CAD
Overview
You will own packaging development for new and existing products across Client's North America portfolio, driving cost savings and sustainability gains. You will work with category and platform management teams to deliver innovative, cost-effective packaging solutions that reduce distribution damage and add customer value. You will collaborate with packaging suppliers and testing labs to validate designs against ISTA and ASTM standards. This hybrid role requires presence in Roswell, GA, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with remote work on Mondays and Thursdays, and a core schedule of 9 AM to 3 PM ET. You will apply advanced Artios CAD skills and corrugated expertise to solve real-world packaging challenges for a Fortune 500 client.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design corrugated packaging structures using Artios CAD for new and existing products, optimizing for cost, sustainability, and distribution performance.
- 2Coordinate and execute packaging testing per ISTA and ASTM methods, analyzing results to inform design decisions and improve package durability.
- 3Collaborate with category and platform management teams to integrate packaging requirements into product development timelines and deliverables.
- 4Evaluate and recommend packaging materials and configurations that reduce distribution cost and damage, leveraging knowledge of supplier manufacturing processes.
- 5Build and maintain supplier relationships to stay current on packaging technology and equipment innovations, applying insights to Client's packaging roadmap.
- 6Monitor and communicate North American packaging regulations, ensuring designs comply with applicable laws and industry standards.
- 7Use TOPS palletization software to create efficient pallet patterns and load configurations, maximizing trailer utilization and reducing freight costs.
- 8Support continuous improvement initiatives for existing packaging lines, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Requirements10
- 13+ years of experience in packaging engineering or a related field, with a strong focus on corrugated box design.
- 2Advanced proficiency in Artios CAD for corrugated packaging design and structural development.
- 3Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Science, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
- 4Expert-level proficiency with TOPS palletization software.
- 5Knowledge of ISTA and ASTM test methods for packaging materials and packages.
- 6Understanding of the correlation between final art and package design, ensuring print and structural alignment.
- 7Awareness of applicable packaging laws and regulations in North America.
- 8Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize projects independently and within a team environment.
- 9General understanding of material supplier's manufacturing processes, including corrugated board production.
- 10Experience with International Paper, WestRock, or Pratt is a plus.
