Outreach Specialist, LGBTQ Youth Clubhouse & Community Engagement
Overview
The Outreach Specialist will support the OASAS Youth Clubhouse for LGBTQ and Gender Non-Conforming young adults of color, serving as a bridge to clinical services and community supports at scale. You will contribute to program development and lead evidence-based activities related to recovery, recreation, education, and supportive services. This is a full-time onsite role requiring late afternoon, evening, and weekend hours for outreach and drop-in activities. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to engage youth, coordinate events, and help expand access to primary care, substance use treatment, and mental health services.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build new program activities and activities increase client engagement
- 2Design and implement outreach to prospective members through in-person and virtual formats to meet monthly targets
- 3Create social media content to recruit participants and raise awareness
- 4Facilitate orientation for new members including documentation tours and introductions to on-site services
- 5Support Care Navigators in enrolling youth into prevention programs and case management
- 6Track group attendance and maintain notes in the internal database
- 7Assist with implementing groups events Youth Advisory Board meetings and other activities
- 8Conduct in-reach to recruit new participants through Housing Works services
- 9Document and report outreach activities and outcomes
- 10Coordinate calendar of on-site off-site and virtual activities to engage and retain youth
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor’s degree preferred with at least 1 year of nonprofit outreach experience
- 2Knowledge of HIV AIDS homelessness trauma substance use mental illness and LGBTQ youth of color issues
- 3Experience using social media to recruit participants
- 4Strong problem solving and teamwork abilities
- 5Excellent communication skills with diverse participants and staff
- 6Strong computer skills including Word Excel and database systems
- 7Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- 8Cultural competency regarding LGBTQ+ identities language and pronouns
