Operating Room RN - Scrub Experience | Moffitt Cancer Center
Overview
You will deliver individualized nursing care to cancer patients and families in a 19-suite robotic OR at Moffitt McKinley Hospital, part of the NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Florida. You will work full-time day shifts (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM, 4x10) with a collaborative team of RNs, Nurse Educators, and Clinical Nurse Specialists. This role emphasizes patient and family centered care, shared governance, and evidence-based practice. You will join a team that performs complex minimally invasive and robotic cancer surgeries across GI, urologic, head and neck, thoracic, and endocrine cancers. What You'll Do10
- 1Assess, plan, and evaluate care for cancer patients and families using the nursing process.
- 2Integrate patient and family centered care and Duffy's quality caring model into daily practice.
- 3Document baseline and comparative assessments, ensuring age-appropriate care in all steps.
- 4Provide patient education based on learning needs and discharge planning.
- 5Collaborate with the perioperative team to ensure safe, efficient OR turnover and procedures.
- 6Participate in evidence-based practice improvement activities and professional development.
- 7Support shared governance by contributing to decisions affecting nursing practice.
- 8Maintain compliance with BLS and ACLS certifications and AORN standards.
- 9Use radiographic imaging and intraoperative radiotherapy equipment for image-guided surgery.
- 10Mentor new staff and students, fostering a culture of caring and collaboration.
Requirements8
- 11+ year of OR experience with both circulator and scrub responsibilities.
- 2Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; or Associate's Degree in Nursing plus 1 year relevant experience.
- 3Current RN licensure in Florida or multi-state privilege with declaration of FL as primary state within 60 days.
- 4Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire.
- 5Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for specific units or within 18 months for nurse residents.
- 6Master's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- 7Strong scrub experience in robotic and open cancer surgeries.
- 8Knowledge of AORN standards and perioperative nursing principles.
