Operating Room RN - Ambulatory Surgery Center | Dallas
Overview
You will independently manage the care of pediatric patients in our ambulatory OR at Children's Health Dallas, partnering with UT Southwestern to deliver advanced surgical care. You will coordinate a multidisciplinary team, advocate for patient safety, and document every encounter in EPIC. This role offers a Monday-Friday schedule with no call, nights, or weekends, letting you focus on clinical excellence. What You'll Do8
- 1Coordinate patient care from admission to discharge, assessing each child and developing a plan that supports comfort and recovery.
- 2Lead the surgical team during procedures, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and infection prevention standards.
- 3Document all patient encounters accurately in EPIC, maintaining strict PHI confidentiality.
- 4Partner with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and families to adjust care plans based on real-time patient responses.
- 5Educate patients and families on post-operative care, using clear communication that meets their unique needs.
- 6Advocate for each child's wellbeing, addressing ethical concerns and facilitating timely interventions.
- 7Drive quality improvement by applying evidence-based guidelines to every aspect of perioperative care.
- 8Mentor new nurses and support the patient care team to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes.
Requirements8
- 12+ years of OR RN experience in a comparable surgical setting.
- 2Current RN license to practice professional nursing in Texas.
- 3BSN in Nursing from an accredited program.
- 4BLS certification for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20.
- 5PALS certification, with NRP or ACLS as applicable.
- 6Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records.
- 7Strong critical thinking and communication skills to handle high-acuity pediatric cases.
- 8Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs during surgical procedures.
