OpenShift Enterprise Architect, NASA AEGIS Program
Overview
You will own the end-to-end architecture for NASA's enterprise Red Hat OpenShift platform, hosting Maximo Application Suite and other mission-critical workloads. You will report to the AEGIS program leadership and collaborate with NASA OSI FRED IT stakeholders. This role stands out by combining deep technical architecture with cross-organizational governance, ensuring platform security, scalability, and resilience in a 5+ years senior-level capacity.
What You'll Do10
- 1Define cluster topology, node architecture, compute/storage strategy, and high-availability patterns for the enterprise OpenShift platform.
- 2Establish architectural standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns for containerized workloads, including lifecycle plans and CM baselines.
- 3Lead capacity planning, scalability modeling, and performance optimization initiatives across on-premises and hybrid OpenShift environments.
- 4Govern cluster objects: namespaces, operators, ingress, storage classes, RBAC, quotas, and pod security standards to ensure compliance.
- 5Architect certificate management, PKI integration, TLS enforcement, secrets management, and encrypted storage strategies for zero-trust security.
- 6Design routing, ingress, load balancing, reverse proxy, DNS, and firewall structures for resilient application connectivity.
- 7Implement end-to-end observability with Prometheus, Grafana, and enterprise logging platforms like Splunk, defining SLO/SLI metrics and alerting.
- 8Automate platform operations using GitOps with ArgoCD, Ansible, Terraform, and OpenShift APIs.
- 9Produce architectural diagrams, executive briefings, and governance documentation for stakeholder decision-making.
- 10Drive continuous improvement by recommending platform enhancements, cost optimizations, and modernization paths.
Requirements9
- 18+ years of senior-level experience designing and implementing enterprise container-platform architectures with Red Hat OpenShift.
- 2Current Red Hat OpenShift Administration certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
- 3Proficiency in OpenShift administration: cluster management, application deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and patching.
- 4Strong understanding of Kubernetes concepts and principles.
- 5Solid experience with Linux operating systems and command-line administration.
- 6Knowledge of networking concepts: DNS, load balancing, and security.
- 7Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python for automation and system management.
- 8Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- 9U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
