Office Engineer Rail
Overview
Michael Baker International seeks an Office Engineer to lead rail infrastructure projects in Alexandria VA. This role involves supporting planning design and delivery of rail projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe efficient high-quality outcomes.
What You'll Do9
- 1Perform civil engineering design and technical analysis for rail infrastructure projects including track grading drainage and structural interfaces
- 2Prepare and review engineering plans specifications and technical reports
- 3Coordinate with project managers designers construction managers and inspectors throughout design and construction phases
- 4Support permitting and regulatory compliance in accordance with federal state and local requirements
- 5Apply railroad and transit standards such as AREMA FRA and client-specific guidelines
- 6Participate in design reviews constructability reviews and value engineering efforts
- 7Respond to RFIs and provide engineering support during construction
- 8Coordinate with railroad operators transit agencies utilities and third-party stakeholders
- 9Maintain organized and accurate project documentation throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements6
- 1Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience
- 2Minimum 6 years professional civil engineering experience supporting rail infrastructure initiatives
- 3Experience preparing engineering plans specifications and technical documentation
- 4Strong understanding of civil design principles and construction methods
- 5Excellent communication coordination problem-solving and client-facing skills
- 6Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively in a team environment

$84 - $110k per year
