Nutrition Assistant, School Food Service
Overview
You will prepare, portion, and serve scratch-made meals for students at Wayzata Public Schools, supporting daily operations across multiple elementary and middle school sites. You will work alongside a dedicated Nutrition team to deliver wholesome food that fuels student success and fosters community. This role combines hands-on kitchen work with direct student interaction, making every day meaningful. You will take pride in quality and care, knowing your work contributes to a positive school day.
What You'll Do8
- 1Prepare, portion, and serve food items according to standardized recipes and daily schedules.
- 2Assist with setup, cleanup, and sanitation of food service areas to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- 3Use the point-of-sale (POS) system to check out students accurately and efficiently.
- 4Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain a positive, productive work environment.
- 5Support food service for special school or community events as needed.
- 6Attend required training and follow district and department policies and procedures.
- 7Communicate effectively with supervisors and report operational or safety concerns promptly.
- 8Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements8
- 1High School Diploma or GED.
- 2Previous experience in an institutional kitchen setting.
- 3Experience with quantity food production.
- 4Basic math and computational skills.
- 5Ability to communicate clearly and follow instructions.
- 6Competency with institutional food service equipment.
- 7All new food service employees must pass a district-arranged pre-placement physical examination.
- 8Successful completion of background check.
