Overview
Own patient care coordination for trauma and acute care surgery patients at UCLA Health in Los Angeles. Manage daily progress notes, discharge summaries, and procedure notes, respond to trauma activations, and cover consults. Collaborate with surgical faculty, residents, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality outcomes. This limited appointment runs approximately 6 months with potential conversion to career. Use Standardized Procedures to adjust treatment regimens based on patient assessment.
What You'll Do6
- 1Respond to trauma activations and cover consults and pager as needed, documenting services rendered.
- 2Write daily progress notes, discharge summaries, and procedure notes for trauma and acute care surgery patients.
- 3Participate in weekly outpatient clinic, ensuring follow-up appointments are scheduled and appropriate referrals are made.
- 4Assist in wound care and provide patient/family education to promote safe continuity of care.
- 5Participate in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, coordinating care with trauma nurse navigator, social work, case management, and trauma program manager.
- 6Collaborate with trauma and acute care surgical faculty, residents, and interns to improve patient outcomes.
Requirements7
- 1CA RN and CA NP licenses required.
- 2MSN or DNP in Adult Acute Care NP (AG-ACNP) specialty required.
- 3National Board NP Certification in NP specialty required.
- 4DEA and Furnishing Number required.
- 5BLS, ATLS, and ACLS certifications from AHA or ARC required.
- 61+ year experience with neurosurgical procedures preferred; new grad NP with relevant RN experience considered.
- 7NP1: less than 6 months experience; NP2: 6+ months experience.
