Nurse Practitioner, Sleep Medicine | Seattle, WA
Overview
Provide outpatient pulmonary and sleep medicine care for adult patients in a well-established, not-for-profit healthcare system serving 600,000+ residents in the Seattle area. You will evaluate, diagnose, and manage conditions like COPD, asthma, and sleep apnea, collaborating closely with pulmonologists and sleep physicians. This role includes interpreting sleep studies and PFTs, and educating patients on CPAP/BiPAP therapy. You'll join a supportive, integrated care team with modern EMR systems and access to advanced diagnostics, plus eligibility for PSLF.
What You'll Do8
- 1Evaluate, diagnose, and manage adult patients with pulmonary conditions including COPD, asthma, chronic cough, and pulmonary infections.
- 2Assess and manage sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, insomnia, and hypersomnia, including ordering and interpreting sleep studies.
- 3Conduct patient consultations and follow-up visits, developing comprehensive treatment plans for pulmonary and sleep medicine patients.
- 4Collaborate with pulmonologists and sleep medicine physicians to ensure coordinated, evidence-based care.
- 5Interpret pulmonary function tests (PFTs) and diagnostic imaging, applying results to direct patient management.
- 6Educate patients on CPAP/BiPAP therapy, medication management, smoking cessation, and lifestyle modifications.
- 7Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies, and document all care in EPIC EMR systems.
- 8Partner with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes through integrated care and patient education.
Requirements8
- 1Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with active or eligible Washington State licensure.
- 2Active or eligible DEA registration.
- 3Prior experience in pulmonary, sleep medicine, internal medicine, or primary care preferred; 0-2 years acceptable for strong candidates.
- 4Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills, with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- 5Familiarity with EMR systems and telemedicine platforms.
- 6Must be comfortable with on-site work in the Seattle area, including occasional travel between clinics.
- 7Excellent communication and patient education skills, with a focus on shared decision-making.
- 8Commitment to quality care and patient safety, aligned with Joint Commission standards.
