NoSQL Database Administrator, Automation Development
Overview
You will own the administration and automation of NoSQL database clusters across Linux VM and Kubernetes environments. With 2+ years of hands-on experience with at least two of Cassandra, Elastic Search, Neo4j, SingleStore, or StarDog, you will design, deploy, and maintain both production and non-production systems. You will collaborate with application teams to ensure performance and reliability. What You'll Do8
- 1Build and configure NoSQL database clusters on Linux VM and Kubernetes, ensuring high availability and failover.
- 2Own the automation of database provisioning and patching using Ansible and OLAM playbooks.
- 3Maintain multiple production and non-production environments, managing lifecycle from deployment to decommission.
- 4Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and resolve replication or consistency issues across Cassandra, Elastic Search, or others.
- 5Implement backup and recovery strategies for NoSQL databases, validating restores to guarantee data integrity.
- 6Drive capacity planning and scaling decisions by analyzing cluster metrics and growth trends.
- 7Document operational runbooks and architecture diagrams to enable cross-team knowledge sharing.
- 8Collaborate with DevOps to integrate database automation into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless upgrades.
Requirements8
- 12+ years of hands-on administration of at least two NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, Elastic Search, Neo4j, SingleStore, or StarDog.
- 2Strong proficiency with Linux VM management, including shell scripting and system tuning.
- 3Experience deploying and managing containerized databases on Kubernetes.
- 4Solid understanding of Ansible for configuration management and OLAM for database automation.
- 5Proven track record of maintaining 24/7 production environments with strict SLAs.
- 6Familiarity with networking concepts (DNS, load balancing, firewalls) as they apply to distributed databases.
- 7Ability to diagnose complex performance issues using tools like `top`, `iostat`, and database-specific monitoring.
- 8Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working with cross-functional teams.
