Municipal Associate, Public Law & Governance (5-7 Years)
Overview
5+ years of municipal law experience, you will own transactional and governance matters for cities, counties, and special districts across California. You'll draft complex agreements, navigate statutory frameworks, and advise public officials on high-stakes procurements and contracts. Working with a collaborative team of public law specialists, you'll get direct client interaction and serve as a trusted advisor. This role offers remote flexibility within California and a clear path to long-term growth.
What You'll Do6
- 1Draft and negotiate public works contracts, professional services agreements, and development agreements for public agencies.
- 2Advise clients on public contracting requirements, Brown Act open meeting laws, and conflict of interest regulations.
- 3Prepare staff reports, resolutions, ordinances, and agenda materials for city council and board meetings.
- 4Present legal analyses at public meetings and guide officials through governance decisions.
- 5Manage procurement processes, including drafting RFPs, RFQs, and bid documents.
- 6Collaborate with attorneys on land use, real estate, infrastructure, and regulatory compliance matters.
Requirements6
- 15-7 years of transactional municipal law or public agency experience.
- 2Proven track record advising public entities on governance and transactional matters.
- 3Superior drafting, research, and analytical skills for complex legal documents.
- 4Strong organizational skills to manage multiple matters independently.
- 5Active California Bar membership.
- 6Residency in California required.
Salary Insight
$170 - $206k per year
