Own the 5AM-9AM weekday morning news broadcast for WPTF FM 92.9/AM 680, the Triangle's leading news station. You will anchor live newscasts, conduct interviews, and manage daily station operations, ensuring seamless technical execution and content delivery. Work alongside the VP of News and engineering teams to shape the region's news agenda. What You'll Do10
- 1Anchor live morning news broadcasts from 5AM to 9AM, delivering news, weather, and traffic updates in a clear, unbiased style.
- 2Conduct live and pre-recorded interviews with newsmakers, public officials, and community experts to enrich content.
- 3Collaborate with the VP of News and contributors to develop engaging, relevant stories that resonate with the Triangle audience.
- 4Monitor breaking news and local developments to keep the show timely and informative.
- 5Maintain a strong social media presence to extend show reach and drive audience engagement.
- 6Oversee daily station operations, including broadcast scheduling, automation systems, and technical coordination.
- 7Coordinate with programming and engineering to ensure smooth transitions between shows and clean broadcast execution.
- 8Troubleshoot on-air or backend issues as they arise, implementing quick fixes to maintain broadcast quality.
- 9Help implement station policies, ensure FCC compliance, and maintain broadcast standards.
- 10Assist in onboarding and training part-time staff or interns as needed.
Requirements10
- 13+ years as a radio host, anchor, or reporter, with morning drive experience a plus.
- 2Strong understanding of radio operations, scheduling, and broadcast automation systems.
- 3Broad knowledge of current events, public affairs, and Raleigh-area issues.
- 4Confident and professional on-air delivery with strong storytelling ability.
- 5Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- 6Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- 7Ability to work early mornings and flexible hours.
- 8Social media savvy with an understanding of how to engage and grow an audience.
- 9Bachelor's degree in journalism, broadcasting, or communications preferred.
- 10Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Raleigh area, with working knowledge of the Triangle market.
