Middle School Flex Teacher, ELA & Math Intervention
Overview
You will own the flex room for 6th grade, reinforcing ELA writing skills and math skills using Envision Math, Practice Buddy, and MathXL for a diverse student body at Wendell Phillips School 63. You'll work with a visible administration, an instructional coaching team, an MLL director, and a restorative team. This role suits educators who thrive on using student data to target skill gaps and close them in real time. You'll receive complete coaching, all materials provided, and you'll step outside your primary content area to make an impact.
What You'll Do10
- 1Deliver ELA writing skill reinforcement using school-provided rubrics and writing frameworks with 100% curriculum fidelity.
- 2Deliver math skill reinforcement using Envision Math, Practice Buddy, and MathXL platforms.
- 3Analyze platform data weekly to identify which skills need targeting and reinforcement.
- 4Track student skill progression in ELA and math and communicate results to grade-level teachers.
- 5Participate in weekly or bi-weekly data meetings to align flex instruction with core classroom priorities.
- 6Implement SIOP-aligned strategies to support Multilingual Learners during all flex instruction.
- 7Maintain a structured, positive environment using PBIS and restorative practices.
- 8Participate in coaching cycles, professional development, and instructional feedback sessions.
- 9Build relationships with students through conferencing and a consistent daily presence.
- 10Communicate with families and contribute to school-wide culture and competency structures.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's degree in any field, with science, social studies, math, or ELA backgrounds welcome.
- 2Willingness to teach outside your primary content area, with full coaching and support provided.
- 3Valid Indiana teaching license OR enrollment in a state-approved transition-to-teaching program.
- 4Comfort with data and technology platforms, with training provided.
- 5Genuine growth mindset and openness to coaching and feedback.
- 6Experience with middle school-aged students is preferred.
- 7Familiarity with Envision Math, MathXL, Practice Buddy, or similar platforms is preferred.
- 8Experience in writing instruction, content-area literacy, or intervention is preferred.
- 9Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
