Overview

You will own process development for MEMS fabrication in metrology, test, BEOL, or wafer bond at Draper's Microfabrication Facility. Working with 3-5 years of experience, you will design and develop MEMS devices, assess performance, and drive yield improvements. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver solutions for defense, space, and biomedical applications. This role offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge MEMS technology in an independent nonprofit R&D environment.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Design and develop MEMS devices and sensors, creating schematics and physical layouts of integrated components or packaged assemblies.
  • 2Assess performance and process capabilities of MEMS designs using CAD and simulation software.
  • 3Test and evaluate devices using tools like probe stations and SEM to ensure reliability and performance.
  • 4Analyze and resolve issues related to reliability, yield improvement, and failure analysis using JMP or Minitab.
  • 5Develop production methods and fabrication processes for MEMS in areas such as BEOL and wafer bonding.
  • 6Draft documentation including operating instructions, performance specs, and manuals for new processes.
  • 7Communicate performance data and operating characteristics to design teams to guide new product development.
  • 8Identify and communicate design and manufacturing risks to project leadership, and execute assignments independently.

Requirements8

  • 13-5 years of Microsystems Engineering or related experience.
  • 2Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.
  • 3Experience with manual (non-automated) wafer handling in a cleanroom environment.
  • 4Experience with microfabrication process development, including photolithography, etch, and thin film deposition.
  • 5Proficiency with fabrication and metrology tools such as profilers, ellipsometers, and SEM.
  • 6Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using SPC and MES systems.
  • 7Excellent verbal and written communication skills for team-based coordination.
  • 8Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
