Member Specialist, Retail & Customer Service
Overview
The Member Specialist owns the member experience at the checkout and beyond, handling purchases, returns, and issue resolution for a high-volume retail club. Working on-site at Sam's Club, this role supports the front-end team and ensures smooth operations. You will train new associates on cash register systems and mobile retail applications, and partner with management to maintain safety and security standards. This position stands out for its focus on developing people and driving process improvements in a fast-paced retail setting.
What You'll Do8
- 1Process member purchases and handle payments, returns, refunds, and exchanges using cash register and payment systems.
- 2Resolve member issues and concerns by identifying needs, locating merchandise, and providing product recommendations.
- 3Maintain checkout and entrance areas by conducting safety sweeps, zoning merchandise, and organizing displays.
- 4Verify membership cards, acknowledge members, and assist with shopping cart transport to enhance the member experience.
- 5Secure assets by monitoring for suspicious activity and executing emergency response procedures as needed.
- 6Train new Member Frontline Services associates on cash register operations, mobile retail applications, and new technology rollouts.
- 7Document safety incidents, maintain logs, and report unsafe conditions to facility management.
- 8Drive continuous improvement by identifying shrink and damage, and implementing action plans to reduce losses.
Requirements8
- 1Retail experience including operating front end equipment such as a cash register.
- 2Experience working with mobile retail applications.
- 3Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- 4High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- 6Strong communication skills to interact with members and associates.
- 7Ability to follow company policies and procedures for safety and security.
- 8Willingness to learn new technologies and assist with training others.
Salary Insight
$40 - $56k per year
