The UCF Student Health Services seeks a dedicated Medical Secretary to provide non-clinical patient support. This time-limited funded role involves managing patient accounts and supporting clinical workflows. Candidates will contribute to a dynamic environment focused on student wellness.
What You'll Do13
- 1Greet patients and schedule appointments using appropriate appointment types and durations
- 2Determine provider availability and coordinate non-emergency visits
- 3Handle patient triage referrals and telephone-based assessments
- 4Complete opening and closing appointment checklists accurately
- 5Answer patient inquiries and direct visitors to proper departments
- 6Verify insurance eligibility and manage co-payments through PeopleSoft
- 7Enter and validate patient demographics and insurance details in the EHR
- 8Track data sources and prepare reports for patient information
- 9Reconcile scheduling conflicts between clinical and departmental needs
- 10Organize administrative tasks such as mail distribution and supply management
- 11Maintain compliance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations
- 12Assist with training new staff and provide procedural guidance
- 13Complete required university and SHS training programs promptly
Requirements11
- 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 23-5 seasons leading healthcare support teams
- 3High School Diploma or equivalent and zero years of relevant experience
- 4One year of healthcare or customer service experience preferred
- 5Clinical knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding systems
- 6Proficiency with medical terminology and Microsoft Office applications
- 7Electronic Medical Records experience with EHR systems
- 8Excellent professional communication skills
