Medical Receptionist, Bilingual Spanish Gastroenterology
Overview
You will own front desk operations for a two-doctor gastroenterology practice, handling patient flow and revenue collection. You will coordinate with physicians and nursing staff to keep schedules on time. Your bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is critical for supporting a diverse patient base. You will manage check-in, insurance verification, and co-pay collection from day one. This role offers direct exposure to gastroenterology procedures like colonoscopies and EGDs.
What You'll Do8
- 1Check patients in and out using ECW or similar EHR, verifying demographics and insurance details.
- 2Collect co-pays and outstanding balances, issuing receipts and posting payments to patient accounts.
- 3Answer a multi-line phone system, triaging calls for two physicians and scheduling appointments.
- 4Verify insurance eligibility and benefits through Availity or payer portals before patient visits.
- 5Coordinate referrals and prior authorizations for procedures including colonoscopies and EGDs.
- 6Manage the daily schedule, confirming appointments and filling cancellations to minimize gaps.
- 7Scan and index medical records into the EHR, ensuring accurate documentation and HIPAA compliance.
- 8Assist patients with forms and translation, leveraging Spanish proficiency to explain instructions.
Requirements8
- 12+ years experience as a medical receptionist in a physician practice or clinic.
- 2Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English, both written and verbal.
- 3Proficiency with EHR systems, preferably eClinicalWorks or Epic.
- 4Experience with medical billing and coding basics, including co-pay collection and ICD-10.
- 5Knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorization processes.
- 6Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office and practice management software.
- 7High school diploma or equivalent; medical assistant certification is a plus.
- 8Ability to work onsite in Orlando, Monday-Friday with occasional weekend coverage.
