What You'll Do8
- 1Collaborate with the care team including primary care, specialists, home care, and hospital staff to optimize clinical outcomes.
- 2Complete pre-visit planning by reviewing previous visit notes, ensuring lab and diagnostic results are documented, and identifying any additional information such as discharge notes.
- 3Room patients per standardized workflow, verifying identity with two identifiers, documenting chief complaint, vitals, BMI, pulse oximetry, medications, allergies, and smoking history.
- 4Perform and document EKG, spirometry, point-of-care testing, specimen collection, staple and suture removal, wound care, and equipment cleaning as competency validated.
- 5Administer medications and immunizations per Standing Delegation Orders, set up exam rooms, assist providers with exams, and maintain equipment and supply inventory.
- 6Dismiss patients by completing orders, tasks, delivering education, scheduling follow-ups, and reviewing the plan of care.
- 7Manage in-basket tasks, address MyChart messages, and assist with pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling for clinic and hospital procedures.
- 8Participate in daily huddles, continuous quality improvement projects, staff meetings, and training to enhance care delivery and service quality.
Requirements7
- 1High school diploma or equivalent, plus a Medical Assistant Diploma or National Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited program or equivalent military healthcare experience.
- 2Completion of a Medical Assistant externship.
- 3Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross (required; expiration results in suspension).
- 41+ year of Medical Assistant experience, preferably in an ambulatory clinic with specialty services.
- 5Experience with Epic electronic health records (preferred).
- 6Demonstrated knowledge of patient care activities and strong attention to detail.
- 7Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to use computers for data entry and information retrieval.
