Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer I at Belcan supporting Prime Air's Product Support Organization, you own the first line between operator and maintainer experiences and design engineering improvements. You'll debug and troubleshoot complex technical systems in aerospace and drone environments, translating system functions into actionable insights. You will work with cross-functional teams using JIRA and Confluence to track issues, and you'll have the opportunity to influence design changes based on field feedback. This role offers a contract position with a pay rate of $45.1/hr and a 4-month duration, onsite in Sparrows Point, MD.
What You'll Do8
- 1Debug and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software systems on drone platforms to identify root causes and implement fixes.
- 2Document technical issues and resolutions in Confluence and JIRA to support continuous improvement.
- 3Collaborate with design engineering teams to communicate field issues and recommend design changes.
- 4Translate complex system functions into clear, digestible insights for stakeholders at all levels.
- 5Travel up to 30% of the time to support field operations and on-site troubleshooting.
- 6Script in modern programming languages to automate data collection and analysis for troubleshooting.
- 7Manage project timelines and deliverables using Agile methodologies and engineering project management tools.
- 8Partner with operations teams to resolve urgent maintenance issues and improve operational efficiency.
Requirements10
- 1BSc/MSc in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or equivalent.
- 2Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
- 3Experience scripting in modern programming languages such as Python or C++.
- 4Experience in project management.
- 5Strong communication and writing skills.
- 6Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
- 7Aviation or Aerospace experience (preferred).
- 8Experience with drone systems (preferred).
- 9Experience working with operations teams to resolve urgent issues (preferred).
- 10Use of engineering project management software such as JIRA, Confluence, or other Agile tools (preferred).
