Material Project Manager, Metals BU at Applied Materials
Overview
You will own production scheduling and materials inventory for the Metals BU, tracking progress and resolving factors that affect schedules. You will report to the Senior Manager of Operations and collaborate with quality, engineering, machining, and assembly teams to drive 100% on-time delivery. You will supervise a team of production coordinators, setting priorities and coaching them to meet daily deadlines. This role is onsite in San Jose, CA and requires 10% travel to supplier sites. You will directly shape the efficiency of the Metals BU's contribution to Applied Materials' global semiconductor and display manufacturing leadership.
What You'll Do6
- 1Supervise production scheduling by monitoring materials inventories and tracking progress of production against the master schedule.
- 2Drive execution of the sourcing strategy to meet business growth targets and procurement requirements for the Metals BU.
- 3Monitor supplier scorecard performance and report metrics to management, flagging risks to 100% on-time delivery.
- 4Coordinate with quality, engineering, machining, and assembly operations to resolve material shortages and schedule conflicts.
- 5Select, evaluate, and manage production coordinators, setting priorities and coaching to meet daily deadlines.
- 6Use judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems in the production flow.
Requirements8
- 13+ years in production planning, materials management, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment.
- 21+ year of supervisory experience, including coaching and performance management.
- 3Demonstrated understanding of ERP systems (e.g., SAP) for inventory and scheduling.
- 4Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards and supplier quality management.
- 5Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 6Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) for data analysis.
- 7Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.
- 8Ability to travel 10% of the time to supplier locations.
