Master Carpenter - MTA Light Rail Facilities
Overview
Lead advanced carpentry and masonry repairs across MTA Light Rail stations and facilities in Baltimore. This role involves constructing and maintaining structural components while ensuring compliance with safety standards. The position requires independent work and readiness for overtime.
What You'll Do13
- 1Perform advanced carpentry and masonry repairs on walls ceilings doors stairs handrails trim baseboards platforms sidewalks and other structural components
- 2Construct repair install benches seating cabinetry partitions and other facility fixtures
- 3Repair replace plexiglass panels safety barriers shelters protective enclosures
- 4Replace windows flooring roofing components gutters and building finishes
- 5Install remove maintain facility safety wayfinding signage
- 6Perform painting finishing graffiti abatement as required
- 7Conduct minor repairs to furniture fixtures equipment
- 8Interpret blueprints sketches specifications work orders to complete projects
- 9Operate forklifts material handling equipment transport receive store materials
- 10Conduct facility inspections identify maintenance repair needs
- 11Participate preventive maintenance activities corrective repairs
- 12Maintain clean safe organized work environment
- 13Ensure all work complies with MTA standards OSHA requirements building codes
Requirements11
- 1Minimum five years journeyman or master carpenter experience in commercial industrial transportation or facility maintenance
- 2Extensive knowledge carpentry methods materials tools safety practices
- 3Ability read interpret blueprints drawings technical specifications
- 4Strong troubleshooting problem solving organizational skills
- 5Valid driver’s license preferred
- 6OSHA 10 certification required Forklift operator certification required
- 7Railroad worker protection training required
- 8On-site coordinator training required
- 9Five plus years experience working independently with minimal supervision
- 10Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks indoor outdoor
- 11Availability for overtime evenings weekends holidays emergency call outs
