Maritime Ship Agent, Operations Associate
Overview
You will board vessels at Houston port facilities, coordinate pilots, tugs, and line handlers, and manage port expenses for 4,000 annual ship calls. What You'll Do10
- 1Board vessels at marine facilities and mid-stream locations to coordinate port operations
- 2Coordinate berthing, order pilots, tugs, and linesmen for each vessel call
- 3Manage vessel husbandry services within authorized funding limits
- 4Respond to email requests for assigned ships and general office traffic
- 5Draft, execute, and dispatch commercial documentation with accuracy
- 6Stay on call after hours to handle vessel schedule changes and boarding updates
- 7Follow Company SOPs and adapt procedures for specific port calls
- 8Travel to other ports to provide operations support when needed
- 9Assist in training new team members on port operations and documentation
- 10Submit required documents to US Customs and US Coast Guard within timeframes
Requirements9
- 11+ years of customer service experience
- 2ASBA certification or willingness to obtain within first three months
- 3Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- 4Strong verbal and written communication skills
- 5Ability to multi-task in a dynamic port environment
- 6Analytical and problem-solving skills
- 7Comfort managing high-volume electronic communication on mobile devices
- 8Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in 24/7/365 port operations
- 9Physical ability to board vessels via gangway or pilot ladder, climb ladders, and lift 50 lbs
