Managing Consultant Energy Markets, North America Scope & Modeling
Overview
Own and lead complex engagements in energy markets across North America at scale. Collaborate with utilities, developers, sponsors, and storage players to advance renewables, storage, and green fuels. Build and supervise quantitative market models and Reference Case scenarios to guide capital investments and reliability. Work within a supportive team focused on client management, business development, and knowledge sharing.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead large and complex client engagements from origination to closing
- 2Supervise staff and assist in business development efforts
- 3Translate client inquiries into actionable scopes of work and deliverables
- 4Develop and use analytical models, programming, and simulations to forecast market prices and improve productivity
- 5Review model outputs through data collection, manipulation, and analysis
- 6Be an expert in ISO/RTO markets across North America and market instruments
- 7Supervise simulations of future power grid dispatch using economic dispatch models
- 8Review generation resource additions and retirements using capacity expansion models
- 9Mentor junior consultants in energy markets, business development, and client management
- 10Develop and expand the Reference Case while growing the client base
Requirements10
- 1Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident
- 2Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, energy finance, or engineering AND 5+ years post-graduation experience in a related field OR Master’s degree AND 3+ years post-graduation experience
- 3Post-graduation experience with economic dispatch models such as Aurora, Origin, PLEXOS, BID3, or PSO
- 4Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- 5Experience with data analytics, data modeling and visualization
- 6Proactive and independent work style
- 7Ability to assume ownership of significant tasks while collaborating with a close-knit team
- 8Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 9Ability to travel and work in Guidehouse offices or client locations
- 10Current residence in the contiguous United States

$130 - $216k per year
