The Manager oversees effort reporting and non-financial post-award compliance at Carnegie Mellon University. This role ensures regulatory adherence and supports faculty in managing complex research portfolios.
What You'll Do11
- 1Lead the university-wide effort certification process to ensure timely completion while prioritizing faculty experience
- 2Monitor certification progress and proactively address identified risks before escalation
- 3Review effort data to uncover discrepancies and collaborate with departmental partners to resolve issues
- 4Maintain audit-ready processes to minimize administrative burden on faculty and staff
- 5Partner with IT teams to enhance effort reporting systems and align workflows with evolving needs
- 6Coordinate non-financial post-award actions including approvals and scope changes
- 7Interpret sponsor requirements and provide clear guidance on compliance obligations
- 8Support PIs in managing complex research portfolios through expertise in effort and administrative requirements
- 9Develop and deliver training to build institutional understanding of reporting processes
- 10Mentor staff across research support communities to improve expertise and consistency
- 11Identify process improvements to reduce administrative burden and enhance research support effectiveness
Requirements6
- 1Bachelor’s degree in business administration finance research administration or related field with five years of progressive experience
- 2Proven ability to manage complex post-award or compliance-related activities
- 3Experience with federal regulations like Uniform Guidance and cost principles
- 4Familiarity with enterprise research administration systems such as HRS/Huron or Oracle
- 5Track record of improving audit readiness and compliance processes
- 6Strong communication skills for advising faculty and cross-functional collaboration
