LRE Aide
Overview
As an LRE Aide, you will support students with disabilities in general education classrooms across Detroit, Michigan, ensuring they access the curriculum alongside their peers. You will work under the direction of a building team of general and special education teachers, implementing IEP accommodations and fostering independence. This role requires daily collaboration with educators and a commitment to promoting social acceptance. You will maintain detailed logs of support provided, directly impacting student success in a lesser restrictive environment.
What You'll Do7
- 1Assist eligible students with disabilities in general education classrooms and community-based settings as determined by the IEPT.
- 2Implement accommodations and modifications from each student's IEP during classroom activities.
- 3Promote social acceptance and interaction between students with disabilities and general education peers.
- 4Encourage student independence in learning activities, assignments, and peer interactions.
- 5Support general and special education teachers in delivering daily lessons.
- 6Implement behavior intervention strategies as outlined in the IEP.
- 7Maintain a log of support provided to each student when not under direct supervision of the special education teacher.
Requirements5
- 1Completion of 60 semester hours at an accredited institution, an associate's degree or higher, or passing score on an approved state assessment (e.g., MTTC Basic Skills, SAT with 480 evidence-based reading and writing and 530 math, or ETS Parapro with 460).
- 2Evidence of successful experience in student and parent relations from prior personal or professional settings.
- 3Demonstrated proficiency in an instructional support capacity from tutoring, teaching, or similar work.
- 4Willingness to learn and adapt to varying student needs.
- 5Knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics as appropriate.
