Overview

You will own the daily logistics workflow for Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services team in Lexington, MA, handling sample intake, hazardous materials shipping, and regulatory compliance. You'll coordinate with lab scientists and external partners to ensure Dangerous Goods shipments meet IATA, ADR, and IMDG standards. By maintaining precise documentation and supporting audits, you'll keep operations compliant and efficient. This role offers hands-on work in a GMP/GLP environment with direct impact on life sciences research. You'll join a global team of 14,000+ associates dedicated to advancing science.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Receive, inspect, and log incoming samples, completing documentation and security checks per DOT and Dangerous Goods regulations.
  • 2Prepare, package, and label outgoing shipments to meet IATA, ADR, IMDG, GMP, and GLP standards.
  • 3Coordinate daily workloads to meet service level agreements and contractual obligations.
  • 4Track and manage shipments requiring special handling, including hazardous and temperature-controlled materials.
  • 5Maintain inventory accuracy and stock levels to support operational needs.
  • 6Support continuous improvement projects focused on Dangerous Goods compliance and efficiency.
  • 7Prepare documentation and assist with internal and external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • 8Investigate and resolve logistics or customer issues, escalating complex cases as needed.
  • 9Collaborate cross-functionally to improve processes and implement best practices.
  • 10Train and mentor new team members on compliance and logistics procedures.

Requirements10

  • 1Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 22+ years in sample logistics, laboratory operations, or supply chain environments.
  • 3Hands-on experience handling regulated or hazardous materials preferred.
  • 4Experience in GMP/GLP-regulated environments strongly preferred.
  • 5Knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations (IATA, ADR, IMDG) and Known Consignor requirements.
  • 6Forklift or pallet jack experience is a plus.
  • 7Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics or inventory data management systems.
  • 8Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • 9Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment with shifting priorities.
  • 10Customer-focused mindset and effective communication skills.
