
Lead Technician, Commercial Flooring & Handyman
Overview
Own commercial flooring and handyman projects across DFW healthcare facilities, including Magic Shield installations at hospitals and senior living communities. Work with a tight-knit crew under TruBlue's insured and bonded umbrella, leading 2-3 technicians on-site. You will bring 10+ years of field experience to a role that values autonomy, quality, and professional client communication. This contract position pays $25-$35/hour and focuses on occupied commercial environments, where your skills minimize disruption to staff and patients.
What You'll Do7
- 1Lead Magic Shield flooring installations at hospitals and senior care sites, from site inspection to final cleanup.
- 2Inspect job sites and confirm subfloor conditions before starting any project, flagging issues early.
- 3Direct a small team of technicians through flooring removal, surface prep, installation, and finishing.
- 4Coordinate daily tasks and materials to keep projects on schedule and meet quality standards.
- 5Handle general handyman repairs: drywall, carpentry, minor plumbing, and electrical work as needed.
- 6Communicate progress and field issues to management and facility contacts, keeping everyone aligned.
- 7Maintain a spotless, organized, and safe work environment, protecting customer property at all times.
Requirements9
- 110+ years of paid experience in flooring, remodeling, carpentry, construction, or handyman services.
- 2Commercial project experience, ideally in hospitals, senior living, healthcare, or occupied commercial settings.
- 3Proven skill with multiple flooring types: installation, repair, subfloor prep, transitions, and finishing.
- 4General handyman abilities: drywall, carpentry, remodeling, minor plumbing, and minor electrical.
- 5Ability to evaluate field conditions and solve installation problems on the spot.
- 6Leadership experience: supervise and direct a small team of technicians.
- 7Professional communication skills with facility managers, customers, and contractors.
- 8Valid Driver's License, reliable transportation, and your own tools.
- 9Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to communicate in English.
