Lead Immigration Attorney, Humanitarian Immigration Houston
Overview
Own the launch of a humanitarian immigration practice in Houston, leading strategy, operations, and client engagement at scale. You will be the face of the practice, building processes, mentorship, and a client-centered approach from its founding stage. Work onsite with travel to detention centers as needed to support cases. This role blends legal leadership with practice development across EOIR proceedings and humanitarian matters.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead the firm’s humanitarian immigration practice focusing on Removal Defense
- 2Manage cases involving EOIR proceedings, Asylum, VAWA, T-Visas and related humanitarian matters
- 3Represent clients through immigration hearings and develop case strategies
- 4Attend hearings, court proceedings, and required legal appointments
- 5Visit detention centers when required with travel covered by the company
- 6Conduct consultations with prospective clients and guide engagement from first contact to closing
- 7Ensure accurate filings, deadlines and documentation and establish high standards and best practices for the new practice
- 8Provide strategic legal direction as the team grows and assist in future expansion of the legal team
- 9Set up operational, intake, and administrative infrastructure to support attorneys and staff
- 10Collaborate with leadership on growth, marketing and client experience initiatives
Requirements10
- 1Active license to practice law in Texas
- 2Professional experience in U.S. Immigration Law
- 3Experience with Removal Defense / EOIR proceedings preferred
- 4Knowledge of humanitarian immigration matters such as Asylum, VAWA, T-Visas
- 5Fluent Spanish for consultations and professional conversations
- 6Strong client-facing and interpersonal communication skills
- 7Ability to manage sensitive and complex cases with professionalism and empathy
- 8Strong organizational skills and ability to independently manage an active caseload
- 9Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in building a practice from its early stages
- 10Willingness to work full-time and travel to detention centers or other locations when cases require it
