Lead IAM Engineer, Identity & Access Management
Overview
As the Lead IAM Engineer, you will own the operational stability and security of the enterprise IAM portfolio. You will lead SailPoint and Okta implementations, driving performance and reliability at scale. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed security into every layer, from infrastructure to application support. This role uniquely blends cybersecurity, production engineering, and infrastructure expertise, offering direct impact on critical access controls.
What You'll Do7
- 1Own the uptime and security posture of IAM applications, reducing incident response time by 40% within the first quarter.
- 2Engineer and maintain SailPoint and Okta integrations, ensuring seamless identity lifecycle management.
- 3Lead incident response and root cause analysis for IAM-related outages, implementing preventative measures.
- 4Drive automation of identity workflows using Python and AWS Lambda to eliminate manual provisioning tasks.
- 5Architect and scale IAM infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes, optimizing for high availability and cost efficiency.
- 6Partner with security engineering to enforce least-privilege access, leveraging Ping Identity and Azure AD policies.
- 7Mentor junior engineers, raising the bar for code quality, monitoring, and documentation standards.
Requirements7
- 15+ years engineering IAM solutions with SailPoint, Okta, or Ping Identity.
- 23+ years hands-on AWS experience, including CloudFormation, IAM roles, and Lambda.
- 3Strong background in Python or Java for automation and integration development.
- 42+ years supporting Kubernetes and containerized workloads in production.
- 5Deep understanding of OAuth2, SAML, and OIDC protocols.
- 6Experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- 7Prior leadership or mentoring experience in a security-focused role.
Salary Insight
$69 - $78k per year
