Junior Telecom Technician - Secret Clearance - GDIT
Overview
Own the evaluation and testing of next-generation Technical Security Systems for U.S. embassies worldwide. You will apply the Technology Development Branch engineering process to assess new technologies, from low-voltage electrical schematics to fiber cabling. Collaborate with manufacturers and Diplomatic Security field activities to maximize system capabilities. This role requires 5+ years of related technical security experience and a current Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain Top Secret.
What You'll Do9
- 1Test and evaluate next-generation Technical Security Systems using the Technology Development Branch engineering process within 90 days.
- 2Develop and maintain system documentation, including technical requirements, evaluation reports, and test plans, for security systems.
- 3Provide technical support and services to Diplomatic Security field activities to maximize system performance at U.S. embassies worldwide.
- 4Collaborate with manufacturers on new products and system improvements, focusing on Access Denial Systems and Vehicle Barrier Controllers.
- 5Maintain testing labs and equipment, ensuring readiness for system evaluations.
- 6Read, edit, and interpret circuit diagrams and low-voltage electrical schematics for system design and troubleshooting.
- 7Use a digital voltage meter for point-to-point system testing and verification.
- 8Terminate and test copper and fiber cabling for network and security system integration.
- 9Support the full system lifecycle, from concept through deployment, for Alarm Systems and Emergency Notification Systems.
Requirements9
- 15+ years of related technical security experience or equivalent combination of education and training.
- 2Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 3Current Secret clearance issued by DSS/DoD, with ability to obtain Top Secret.
- 4Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; AutoCAD/Visio preferred.
- 5Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams and low-voltage electrical schematics.
- 6Experience with digital voltage meter for system testing.
- 7Familiarity with Access Denial Systems, Walkthrough Metal Detectors, and X-Ray Systems.
- 8Ability to lift 50 lbs and travel up to 15% including international travel.
- 9DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, ISC2 SSCP) desired.
