IT Chief of Staff, Healthcare Technology & Operations
Overview
You will own the technology organization's operating cadence, executive communications, and cross-functional alignment at Stellus Rx, a healthcare technology company. Reporting to the CTO, you will serve as a strategic partner and operational right hand, bridging technology strategy with organizational execution. What You'll Do10
- 1Lead the technology leadership team's operating cadence, including staff meetings, offsites, and quarterly planning, ensuring strategic priorities translate into measurable execution plans.
- 2Own a working technical understanding of the organization's architecture and platform investments to engage in design reviews and evaluate vendor proposals with AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- 3Prepare board materials, executive briefings, and technology updates for the CTO, crafting narratives that connect technology investment to clinical and business outcomes.
- 4Manage cross-functional relationships with Finance, HR, Legal, Product, and Clinical Operations, resolving dependencies and conflicts that affect technology delivery.
- 5Step into interim leadership of engineering or IT teams during transitions, leaves, or hiring gaps, maintaining continuity and decision velocity.
- 6Own the technology budget, tracking spend against forecast, and lead vendor negotiations for contracts and procurement of material scale.
- 7Design workforce plans, hiring strategies, and organizational structures, establishing performance reviews, promotion cycles, and career ladders.
- 8Partner with the VP of Information Security and compliance leadership to ensure HIPAA and regulatory requirements are embedded in technology decisions.
- 9Drive cross-functional technology initiatives from inception to completion, managing a portfolio of programs with clear prioritization and resourcing.
- 10Serve as the CTO's trusted strategic partner, providing candid counsel and synthesizing information for timely, well-informed decisions.
Requirements10
- 110+ years of progressive experience in technology roles, with 3-5 years in a chief of staff, director, or deputy CTO capacity.
- 2Strong technical background in software engineering, infrastructure, or architecture, sufficient to engage credibly with senior engineers and architects.
- 3Demonstrated experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and cross-functional programs at scale.
- 4Proven track record building or scaling organizational processes, including performance management, hiring, and career development frameworks.
- 5Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive and board-level materials.
- 6Experience partnering with security, compliance, or risk functions, ideally within a regulated industry such as healthcare.
- 7Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), modern software delivery practices, and enterprise architecture principles.
- 8Demonstrated ability to operate with significant autonomy, discretion, and sound judgment on sensitive matters.
- 9Experience working directly with C-suite executives and boards.
- 10Deep expertise in the healthcare industry strongly preferred; advanced degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field, MBA a plus.
